Our Uniform

Having a school uniform fosters pride and self-esteem in our learners, maintains a high standard of personal presentation, promotes the culture of our school and gives Te Kura Whakatipu o Kawarau an identity in the wider community.  The Board’s requirement is that a regulation uniform be worn.

We ask that all uniform items are clearly named to establish ownership and to help with the return of misplaced items.

How do we order/purchase the uniform?  Impact is the supplier of the monogrammed uniform items (polos, half zip fleece, and sunhat).  They have an online order form linked above.  Impact also stocks good quality uniform shorts, skorts, or pants.  Alternatively, whānau are able to purchase their shorts, shorts, or pants from any supplier as long as they are plain black and there is no visible printing or logos on them.  Sunhats are available for purchase at the school office.

What are the parents/caregivers responsibilities?  They are responsible for ensuring that their child/ren attend school in the correct uniform and for ensuring that it is clean and tidy.  All items must be clearly named to establish ownership and to help with the return of misplaced items.  Parents/caregivers are to notify the school if their child is unable to wear a regulation school uniform, giving the reasons and the expected date for being able to comply with school uniform requirements.  In these circumstances parents/caregivers must ensure that their child is dressed in an acceptable alternative.

What is the process when the school uniform requirements have not been followed?  All uniform issues will be addressed initially with children, then with parents.

  • If no note is provided by parents/caregivers, the child will be asked why they are not wearing the correct uniform.

  • If further follow up is necessary, the teacher will communicate with home as to the reason why the child is not in the correct school uniform.

  • If the matter is still unresolved, a member of the leadership team will personally contact the parents/caregivers to clarify the issue.

  • If non-compliance continues, a letter formally outlining the school’s uniform procedure will be sent and parents/caregivers may be asked to meet with the Board to resolve the issue
